Job description

Summary/Objective

As a Loader Dozer Operator, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of a variety of heavy equipment on our excavation sites. This is a safety-sensitive position, and the successful candidate must prioritize and adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.

Essential Functions

  1. Operate bulldozer safely and efficiently.
  2. Cut ditches, slopes, grades, clear brush, shape and dress slopes, and perform other earthmoving activities.
  3. Maintain grade by communicating with engineers, checking grades using machine-mounted lasers, or using machine-mounted GPS.
  4. Setup, read, understand, and take down rotating laser equipment.
  5. Read grade stakes and perform arithmetic to determine grade.
  6. Endure a high production environment for extended periods.
  7. Operate loaders of various sizes and weights in loading and unloading materials and supplies.
  8. Operate trucks and construction or power equipment, including backhoes, dozers, road graders, front-end loaders, hydraulic excavators, and skid steers.
  9. Operate other small equipment and tools to maintain systems.
  10. Assist crews in digging, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and related work with road graders or front-end loaders.
  11. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, referring defects or repairs to the supervisor, and cleaning equipment.
  12. Plow snow and salt roads according to departmental policy.
  13. Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  14. Attend regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry best practices and company policies.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel

Local travel to various worksites is required, with some out-of-town work.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  2. Experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment.
  3. GPS grading experience is a plus.
