Job summary

Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc., a division of American Consolidated Industries, seeks a Load Planner to optimize freight movements, plan routes, and ensure on-time deliveries. You will work with drivers, brokers, and customers to maximize profitability and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2–5 years of related experience, knowledge of DOT regulations, and proficiency with TMS and Excel.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in load planning, dispatching, freight brokerage, or transportation operations.
• Flatbed trucking experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of freight markets, rates, capacity, and lane pricing.
• Experience planning truck schedules and dispatching drivers.
• Proven ability to build customer or broker relationships.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service.
• Strong problem solving and multitasking.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and related tools.
• Experience with TMS, load boards, and dispatch software.
• Familiarity with fuel surcharge calculations and transportation cost.
• Experience analyzing profitability by lane or customer.
• Familiarity with ELD systems and GPS tracking.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and dispatch loads to company drivers and owner-operators.
• Optimize routes to maximize revenue and reduce empty miles.
• Coordinate pickups and deliveries with customers, shippers, and carriers.
• Monitor freight movements and resolve service issues and delays.
• Ensure rates maximize profitability and manage capacity.
• Maintain records of loads, rates, and driver assignments.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service to meet expectations.
• Maintain on-time pickup and delivery performance.
