Job summary

WACKER is seeking a LNB Technical Intern in Allentown, PA to evaluate properties of cementitious mortars and explore inorganic/organic chemistries under ASTM/ANSI/ISO standards.

The role includes hands-on DOE work, baselining raw materials, and collaboration with other technical departments within a leading, research-driven chemical company.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior in a relevant field.
• General chemical laboratory background preferred.
• Hands-on experience with construction, specifically cementitious mortars, preferred.
• The ability to lift 50 pounds is needed.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint needed.
• The candidate should be able to follow laboratory procedure and work independently in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate physical properties of cementitious mortars per standards (ASTM/ANSI/ISO).
• Perform DOE studies and baselining of raw materials as part of the assignment.
• Learn testing and parameters of other projects within the Technical group.
• Interact with other technical departments to understand the breadth of WACKER's applications.

Primary

As a Construction Polymers Chemist Intern this position will focus on projects evaluating physical properties of cementitious mortars and effects from the interactions of different inorganic and organic chemistries. This is a hands‑on evaluation in accordance with ASTM, ANSI and ISO testing standards. Evaluation by design of experiment (DOE) and baselining raw materials will also be part of the assignment.

Secondary

While intern will be focused on their specific project, they will also learn testing and parameters of other projects on‑going within the Technical group at the time of their assignment.

This position will be exposed to other technical departments, to understand the breadth of Wacker's applications, and other functions of the business to get a good introduction to all departments.
