Job summary

United States Steel Corporation seeks a Ladle Metallurgical Furnace operator to support heat making, chemistry control, and yield within a crew on site. The role emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and adherence to quality standards in a heavy manufacturing setting.

You will coordinate with EAF, RH Degasser, and Caster to meet customer chemistry requirements and assist the shift supervisor with daily operations and crew development, upholding the company culture of safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Quality, detail and safety oriented; mechanically inclined and self-motivated.
• Strong technical and analytical problem solving skills with knowledge of steel making process.
• Good insight into team dynamics with strong verbal communication skills.
• High School diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Previous related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.
• Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in job areas and grounds.
• Effectively communicate with the EAF, RH Degasser, and Caster in relation to scheduling and to ensure customer chemistry requirements are obtained in the heat making process.
• Support all functions of the LMF relating to steel chemistry, slag chemistry, and yield.
• Assist shift supervisor with the daily operations relating to the LMF; assist in the development of the 2nd Helpers and Utility positions while ensuring crew safety.
