Job summary

University of California - Davis VMTH seeks a Livestock Medicine Service Technician to provide technical support for the Livestock Medicine and Surgery Unit, performing routine and critical care for cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. You will assist clinicians, residents and students, monitor anesthesia, collect samples and maintain medical records in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires on-call coverage for Livestock Medicine and other Large Animal Clinic services with on-site work at

Qualifications

• Experience handling, restraining and working with livestock.
• Experience monitoring vital signs, observing and recording patient behavior and bodily functions, and experience with fluid therapy and catheter care.
• Oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, clinicians, students and staff.

Responsibilities

• 70% - Patient care and technical support for Livestock Medicine and Surgery.
• 20% - Infection control and sanitation.
• 10% - Support for other Large Animal services.
