Job summary

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES is seeking an Agriculture and Consumer Protection Inspector to enforce animal disease control laws and support public safety in Florida. The role involves field inspections, emergency preparedness, and coordination with USDA and state authorities.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid Class E driver license, and willingness to deploy for emergencies or extended duty periods.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as required.
• Must reside in required counties throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Enforce state and federal animal disease control laws for livestock and poultry.
• Conduct inspections at livestock markets, shows and exhibitions.
• Issue movement permits, quarantines and conduct NPIP testing.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and ESF17 activities within assigned counties.
• Prepare and maintain daily activity reports and maintain inventory of supplies.
