Job summary

Hubbard Broadcasting seeks an on-air traffic anchor to deliver clear, concise regional traffic updates with the latest information. You will monitor scanners, cameras and online sources to stay ahead of road conditions and incidents.

Responsibilities include requesting tips from viewers, answering calls and social media inquiries, updating traffic systems and feeds, and keeping the newsroom informed with timely story ideas while presenting professionally on air.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of professional on-air broadcasting experience (radio or television preferred).
• Degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting or related field preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of area roadways.
• Ability to understand and decipher scanner traffic from local police and fire departments.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms.
• Ability to work quickly in breaking traffic situations and handle stressful situations calmly.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to function well in a diverse team environment.

• Ability to work weekdays and weekends; early morning, midday, and evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Anchor live reports of traffic conditions for the region with the latest information.
• Monitor scanners, cameras and web/social media for traffic developments.
• Pursue traffic tips via email, phone, or official sources.
• Answer calls, emails, and social media posts from listeners; provide customer service.
• Update internal traffic system with latest information.
• Update social media channels with current traffic conditions.
• Inform news team of potential traffic-related story ideas.
• Maintain awareness of local news and how it impacts travel.
• Contact local agencies for traffic incident information.
• Coordinate with digital team to share new traffic information and tease major incidents.
• Other duties as assigned.
