Qualifications

• 2-3 years of professional on-air broadcasting experience.
• Degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting or related field preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of area roadways.
• Ability to understand scanner traffic from local police and fire departments.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms.
• Ability to work quickly in breaking traffic situations and stay calm.
• Multitask and work under pressure.
• Team player with strong leadership and communication skills.
• Punctual and able to work various shifts, weekdays and weekends.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Anchor live traffic reports with clear, concise information.
• Monitor scanners, cameras, and the web to track current road conditions.
• Pursue traffic tips via email, phone, or other sources.
• Answer calls, emails, and social media messages with strong customer service.
• Update internal traffic systems and social channels.
• Inform news team of traffic-related story ideas.
• Communicate with digital team about major incidents for cross-platform teasing.
• Contact local agencies for information on traffic incidents.
• Stay aware of local news impacting travel.
• Work evenings, mornings, weekends as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
