Job summary

Xanterra is hiring a Sound Operator for The Polar Express experience on the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, AZ. The role involves setting up, testing, and operating audio equipment to ensure clear sound throughout the ride and event.

You will manage sound levels, cue music and effects, troubleshoot issues, and support onboard entertainment with teamwork across departments. This seasonal position requires weekend availability and shifts of 6+ hours, with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years old and able to operate audio equipment.
• Strong communication in a live, guest-facing setting.
• Previous live event audio experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Test speakers, audio quality, and mixing consoles before each show aboard the train.
• Operate sound boards and playback software to trigger music, dialogue, and effects in real time.
• Balance volume levels and prevent distortion during performances.
• Troubleshoot technical issues promptly to minimize impact on guest experience.
• Coordinate with Event & Production Supervisors via radio/earpiece.
