Job summary

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is seeking a Live Sound Engineer in Atlanta to support sound reinforcement for concerts and shows, both at home and on tour. The role requires coordinating sound between events, working with artists and staff, and ensuring high artistic standards.

The position involves assisting with setup, rigging, readings, rehearsals, and post-show strike, with a focus on safe operation of audio equipment in a dynamic venue environment.

Qualifications

• Experience running sound and mixing wireless microphones for musical productions.
• Experience with basic theatrical audio equipment, including mixing consoles, show control software, Mac computers, and wireless microphone setup.
• Experience working with classical musicians preferred.

Responsibilities

• Event-to-event sound coordination: adjust and reset the sound system between different event types to maintain consistency.
• Cross-departmental communication with Education and other departments to bridge technical gaps.
• Read and follow paperwork and instructions to prep and maintain the audio system.
• Assist in safe rigging for and focus on loudspeakers and other equipment.
• Attend rehearsals, sound checks, concerts, and events as assigned.
• Complete preshow equipment checks and operate live sound when assigned.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when interacting on stage and with musicians.
• Assist musicians with concert needs, including proper micing of instruments.
