Job summary

University of Kansas seeks Undergraduate Residential Staff for the 2027-2028 academic year. This live-in, exempt position supports a community of 25-90 residents, working 16 hours per week with a private bedroom and meal plan provided. Start in August 2027 through May 2028, with duty coverage during breaks and mandatory trainings.

Responsibilities include community engagement, crisis response, and collaboration with Residence Life staff. Biweekly pay is provided during the term.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and appreciation for diverse experiences; respect for others' rights, feelings, and property.
• Strong interpersonal communication; ability to engage residents in department plans.
• Ability to promote community building and hold individual resident meetings when needed.
• Active participation in staff meetings, trainings, and performance evaluations.
• Commitment to safety, privacy, and university policies; mandatory reporter duties.

Responsibilities

• Engage residents and foster a welcoming community in assigned housing area.
• Respond to crises and emergencies promptly; follow KU Housing policies.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and departmental trainings; support building operations.
• Be available on campus during academic breaks and adapt to schedule changes.
• Manage confidentiality and document policy violations; maintain resident information.
