Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY seeks a Community Director to manage 1-2 residence halls, overseeing about 350 residents and up to 12 student staff. This twelve-month live-in role includes a furnished on-campus apartment and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities include developing engagement initiatives, supervising staff, crisis response, and collaboration with campus partners. A flexible schedule, strong judgment, and commitment to a diverse, inclusive community are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree in Higher Education preferred, College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and assess student engagement and community development initiatives.
• Supervise and develop student staff (HRA, RA, HM).
• Coordinate weekly staff meetings and provide ongoing staff development.
• Educate staff on campus resources and enforce conduct policies in collaboration with relevant offices.
• Oversee daily operation of residential communities including check-in/out procedures.
• Collaborate with Res Ed Leadership team on housing operations and program delivery.
