Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a Residence Hall Coordinator to foster a welcoming, inclusive living-learning community for 350–800 students in a on-campus apartment-style setting.

You will supervise a team of 8–22 Resident Advisors and Community Assistants, coordinate daily operations, and address conduct and crisis issues with campus partners. The role is exempt, on-campus, with 8:00–4:30 hours, on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Services, Counseling, or a related field.
• Two years of professional experience in student services or a related field; a master’s may substitute for one year of experience.
• Strong knowledge of student development principles and residential education in a higher education setting.
• Experience supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating student staff (Resident Advisors/Community Assistants).
• Knowledge of student conduct policies, conflict resolution, and restorative approaches.

Responsibilities

• Foster a welcoming residential community through student engagement, educational programming, and community-building activities.
• Supervise, mentor, and support a team of 8–22 Resident Advisors and Community Assistants.
• Provide student guidance, conduct meetings, and referrals to campus support services.
• Coordinate daily residence hall operations, including facility needs, safety, security, and student concerns.
• Serve as a Conduct Coordinator and University Judicial Officer, addressing behavioral concerns and adjudicating cases.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call duty rotation for crisis response and campus emergencies.
