Job summary

YMCA Camp Willson in Bellefontaine, OH is hiring a Naturalists/Outdoor Education Facilitator to lead engaging outdoor programs for school-age children. This live-in role includes on-site housing and meals while you help deliver our curriculum and support student learning.

Located about an hour northwest of Columbus, the camp spans 500 acres with activities like archery, canoeing and astronomy. You will research, develop and deliver intentional programming, participate in staff trainings, and

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
• Willingness to live on-site or off-site.
• Passionate belief in the YMCA's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all.
• Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the roles of volunteers and staff.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds.
• Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
• Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for staff and members.
• Research, develop, and deliver the established curriculum based on students' age and school curriculum.
• Develop, maintain and improve program materials and supplies.
• Share in staff responsibilities on a rotating basis.
• Lead and assist in daytime and evening recreational programs.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and in-service activities.
• Participate in outreach programs as necessary for operation.
• Report concerns to supervisor.
• Provide a positive atmosphere for teachers, leaders and students.
• Keep chaperones and teachers informed of health, safety, discipline concerns.
• Provide a safe and responsible atmosphere for children to learn and grow.
• Provide emergency care to participants as needed.
• Assist the Conference Director on weekends on a rotating basis.
