Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, seeks committed two-person houseparents to mentor and supervise students in residential homes. The roles include caring for student wellbeing, planning activities, and leading spiritual devotions in a supportive, faith-aligned environment.

Successful couples must be married at least two years, both aged 27+, and able to meet physical requirements. Housing, meals on duty, and utilities are provided, with relocation assistance and paid training available.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental/recreational activities.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Flex Houseparents support homes on a nine-days-on, three-days-off cycle.
