Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks full-time Flex Houseparents for a two-person married couple to live in on-campus student homes and provide care, supervision, and guidance for 8-13 students. You’ll manage routines, mentor youth, accompany them to activities, and lead daily devotions.

The role includes budgeting oversight, and transition to a placed houseparent position over time. Completion of individual applications is required for both spouses.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses must be 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship
• Managing household routines and student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
• Driving students to activities, as well as planning and actively engaging in developmental and recreational activities with students
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting
