Job summary

High Point University’s Office of Residence Life seeks a self-motivated student affairs practitioner to support student development and the residential experience. This live-on position places you in a residence hall apartment within the assigned building and requires evening/weekend commitments and rotating on-call duties.

You will supervise Resident Assistants, coordinate onboarding, develop community activities, manage budgets, and enforce university housing policies.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and strong organizational skills.
• Experience in decision-making in complex situations and supporting students of concern.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building abilities.
• Ability to multi-task and set priorities, with calmness in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Selects, trains and supervises Resident Assistants in the assigned community.
• On-boarding and training of student staff.
• Develops healthy one-on-one and teamwork dynamics for oversight of residential community.
• Facilitates staff development and staff meetings.
• Implements residential curriculum initiatives through student staff management.
• Develops activities to foster resident connections and addresses roommate conflicts.
• Enforces housing regulations and manages discipline through university conduct process.
• Advises Community Residential Student Council with Senior RA.
• Supports CARE team and serves as a resource for students of concern.
• Conducts safety inspections and coordinates openings/closings and program budgets.
• Maintains occupancy records and keys, and ensures software systems are updated.
• Serves on departmental committees and participates in year-round duty rotation.
