Job summary

Western New England University in Springfield, MA is seeking an Assistant Director of Residence Life. This full-time, live-in role leads residential education, student engagement, staff supervision, and crisis response to support a welcoming, inclusive campus environment.

You will manage staff development, collaborate with campus partners, and oversee operations within assigned residential communities, including attendance at department initiatives and retention efforts.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s required in related field.
• Experience supervising professional and student staff in a residence life setting.
• Strong understanding of student development and inclusive residential education.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for residential education, student engagement, staff supervision and crisis response.
• Foster inclusive living-learning environments and support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in residential communities.
• Oversee staff recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling and development.
• Advise student groups and support retention through outreach and referrals.
• Manage day-to-day residential operations, occupancy changes, safety and facilities coordination.
