Job summary

Peco Foods, Inc. is seeking a Live Haul Manager to lead the catching operation and live bird transportation from farm to plant. This role directs both on-site crews and associated transport activities, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while meeting production targets.

You will partner with the Live Operations Manager to align with company goals, uphold animal welfare standards, and maintain accurate operational records for payroll and performance reporting.

Live Haul Manager – Reports to: Live Operations Manager

Description:

• Directly supervises at least 3 employees and indirectly supervises at least 15 employees.
• Peco team member safety is a core value and top priority.
• Conducts all responsibilities in a manner that aligns with Peco’s vision, mission and core values
• Overall responsibility is to manage the catching operation and the transportation of birds from the farm to the plant; manage all personnel involved in this task in a cost-efficient manner.
• Responsible for animal welfare and biosecurity training and compliance in the catch and live haul department.
• Provide feed withdrawal times and catch times to all involved parties that will meet the requirements of the plant.
• Monitor shed time, DOA’s, shrink, catch dead, and bird damage to ensure company goals are being met.
• Ensure that any weather handling tasks (fans, wetting birds, wrapping cages) are in place and properly utilized.
• Establish safe routes for trucks between farm and plant.
• Participate in accident clean-up operations; assist in catastrophic loss operations.
• Provide records of catch, loads, and time to payroll department.
• Participate in the company safety program by ensuring all employees attend mandatory safety training; providing that training when required; and properly documenting training.
• Maintain the company facilities and fleet through proper preventive maintenance.
• Ensure drivers follow hours of service rules and all other DOT regulations.
• Maintain adequate staffing.
• Handles and ensures employees handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.

Physical Demands:

• Sitting/standing/walking and driving 100% of the workday.
• Working in normal room environment, outside environment, and in cold, hot, humid, and dusty conditions.
• Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
• Physically able to climb a ladder at various heights.
