Job summary

West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB) is seeking a Part-time Master Control Operator in Beckley to ensure seamless transmission of television programming across WVPB’s networks. You will monitor, schedule, and troubleshoot content to maintain high-quality delivery.

The role requires attention to detail, experience with broadcast operations or automation systems, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communications, or related field preferred.
• Experience with broadcast operations, automation systems, or television production.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Basic technical skills for operating broadcast equipment and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live and pre-recorded television programming to ensure uninterrupted broadcast transmission
• Operate and maintain master control systems, automation systems, and playback equipment
• Schedule and log programming, commercials, promos, and public service announcements
• Troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate with engineering staff, and implement backup procedures as needed
• Ensure all content complies with FCC regulations, copyright laws, and WVPB policies
• Communicate with producers, engineers, and on-air talent regarding programming changes or technical issues
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation of broadcast operations
• Participate in emergency broadcasts, station testing, and operational drills
