Job summary

News On 6 is seeking a Master Control Operator to supervise master control operations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, ensuring high-quality audio and video transmission. The role requires maintaining logs, monitoring transmitters, and adhering to FCC guidelines.

This temporary, part-time position (20–25 hours per week) involves evening and weekend shifts and on-site work only, with opportunities to collaborate across the newsroom and technical teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in broadcasting, media production, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of prior master control operations experience.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately with names, numbers, and symbols.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and dependability.
• Knowledge of computers and aptitude for electronic equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and calmness under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with FCC regulations and broadcast compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all operational aspects of broadcast areas, including local products, commercials, promos, and PSAs.
• Operate transmitter and transmitter control systems; follow failure procedures; monitor tower lights and FCC compliance.
• Ensure quality control of audio levels and incoming feeds.
• Monitor incoming and outgoing broadcast feeds for quality and regulatory compliance.
• Operate master control equipment including servers, switchers, routers, and automation systems.
• Execute on-air schedules, including commercial breaks, program segments, and live events.
• Coordinate with production for smooth transitions between live content.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation of broadcast activities and maintenance records.
• Ensure FCC regulations and company policies are followed; respond to emergencies quickly.
• Assist with training new staff and master control procedures.
