Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh seeks a Broadcast & Emerging Media Engineering Specialist to maintain and operate broadcast facilities and support ESPN/ACC Network events. You will plan gear allocations, test equipment, and mentor student operators in professional production techniques.

The role requires a degree in electronics with several years in broadcast engineering, and allows collaboration across athletic venues with a focus on reliable live productions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Electronics and three years of progressive experience in a Broadcast Television, Radio and Emerging Media Engineering Environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
• Engineering systems, broadcast audio and video or tv network experience.
• Ability to navigate and troubleshoot technical issues on a deadline.
• Knowledge of broadcast video equipment and signal flow.
• Working knowledge of broadcast equipment, systems and repairs.
• Demonstrated skills with baseband and/or IP routing systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Engineering with maintenance and operation of broadcast facilities and A/V systems.
• Provide engineering support for ESPN / ACC Network event broadcasts.
• Plan and coordinate equipment allocation and deployment for multiple productions.
• Set up, test, and prepare production equipment for events.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of broadcast gear.
• Train and mentor student operators in equipment operation and production etiquette.
• Apply live production concepts to support events.
• Supervise student staff including scheduling and internships.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 occasionally.
