Job summary

St. Mary Catholic Church in Goldsboro, NC seeks a part-time Music Director to oversee liturgical music for Masses and liturgies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Music required.
• 3+ years in church music leadership.
• Piano proficiency and accompaniment ability.
• Knowledge of Catholic teachings and liturgical guidelines.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work with traditional, contemporary, Spanish-language, and age-appropriate music.
• Background check and Safe Environment Training required.

Responsibilities

• Plan music and approve selections for Masses/liturgies with clergy.
• Direct the Saturdays 5pm and Sundays 10am choirs.
• Assist Masses sung in Spanish.
• Lead rehearsals for English and Spanish parish choirs.
• Accompany Sunday 10am and Solemnity Masses as needed.
• Lead a combined choir and instrumental ensemble for Holy Week and special Masses.
• Plan music for weddings and funerals; accompany cantor unless otherwise arranged.
• Manage scheduling, recruitment, instrument maintenance, subscriptions, and budget.
