Job summary

CACI is seeking a Paralegal in the United States (Maryland - Greenbelt) to support USAO attorneys across a broad range of litigation tasks. You will handle document preparation, filing, organization, and discovery, while assisting with witness interviews, depositions, and trial preparation.

The role requires a paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in ABA-accredited law school, plus litigation experience. DOJ MBI clearance is required, and travel up to 10% may be needed.

Qualifications

  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
  • One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate.
  • At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience; trial experience helpful. Automated litigation support experience valued.
  • Knowledge of legal citation and basic legal research tools (LEXIS, Westlaw).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware.
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Provides litigative case management and organizes cases for court presentation by preparing and organizing exhibits containing a variety of visual material.
  • Serves as contact person for assigned cases and provides information and assistance concerning status or relevant procedural issues.
  • Arranges travel by preparing itinerary, and securing transportation and hotel reservations.
  • Prepares travel authorization and vouchers for traveler signature and Government approval.
  • Produces and provides to the attorney the appropriate legal documents, information, exhibits, or witnesses at the appropriate time during those court proceedings.
  • Assists in preparing exhibits for trial with charts, diagrams, photographs, and models; helps prepare trial exhibits to ensure timely production prior to the trial date.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of AUSAs, including automation support or other administrative subject matter areas.
  • Uses databases for data searches, report design, and data retrieval.
  • Opens, maintains, and closes case files; notifies client agencies of service and obtains litigation reports.
  • Establishes and updates databases to track cases, deadlines, and status; keeps attorneys informed.
  • Monitors progress of pending cases to meet deadlines.
  • Maintains case files and related material; archives as needed.
  • Examines, prepares and processes legal documents; maintains calendars; schedules court reporters, witnesses, and conferences.
