Miller, Morton, Caillat & Nevis, LLP is 96-year-old law firm with offices in San Jose and Newport Beach, California. Its principal focus is on construction and real estate development matters, and its clients include many of the largest developers and general contractors in the United States. The firm is seeking a paralegal to join its team to help support civil litigation matters, the majority of which will be complex construction claims.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Document review for responsiveness to discovery requests, identification of privileged or confidential materials, and support of key facts or concepts
  • Management of voluminous e-discovery document databases and use of e-discovery platform tools
  • Discovery (organization of client documents, privilege review, Bates stamping and preparation of document productions, analysis and coding of construction project files, preparation of attorney binders)
  • Deposition preparation and exhibit management
  • Coordinating and tracking files and invoices with/to consultants and vendors
  • File and Case Management (maintaining complex case files and indices for pleadings, discovery, witnesses, and exhibits)
  • Trial preparation and participation
  • Basic legal research

Requirements Include

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer literacy – must be proficient in using computer technology, able to navigate different software applications commonly used in law offices, like MS Word and Excel, billing software, research software, and eDiscovery platforms, and must be willing and able to quickly pick up new software and technologies.
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Self-direction
  • A background or interest in construction is appreciated but not required
  • 2-5 years of experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
