Litigation Paralegal – Medical Malpractice Defense

Role Description

An established defense litigation firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with strong medical malpractice defense experience, including pre-suit medical malpractice cases, to join their team. This is a timekeeper position requiring accurate reporting of billable hours in accordance with client guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and responses.
• Communicate professionally with clients.
• Review medical records and prepare medical chronologies.
• Prepare non-party record subpoenas in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• E-file documents in state and federal courts.
• Locate and coordinate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare cases for witness interviews, depositions, mediations, and trial.
• Track and report billable time accurately.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, especially related to medical malpractice statutes.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat or other PDF programs.
