Overview
Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is seeking a litigation paralegal in our Dallas office to assist attorneys representing leading automotive manufacturers and distributors in state and federal proceedings, state motor vehicle proceedings, and class actions.
This position will sit in the Plano Office.
Responsibilities
- Perform a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, working directly with attorneys on product liability, warranty, franchise and distribution law litigation, and other complex business disputes.
- Maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars.
- Electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney.
- Perform online PACER research.
- Prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions.
- Prepare deposition notices, organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries.
- Track and manage discovery, including document productions.
- Participate in case strategy meetings.
- Prepare for and attend trial.
- Handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle, especially product liability litigation.
- 2‑ or 4‑year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
- Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong sense of accountability, ownership of projects and responsibilities, proactive problem solving, and teamwork skills.
- Technology proficiency and willingness to learn new software.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
