Job summary

Simpson Judge USA in New York City seeks an experienced paralegal to support defense litigation across personal injury and general matters.

You will assist attorneys through intake, discovery, trial preparation and resolution, maintaining calendars and organizing case materials. Strong communication and billing experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of paralegal experience, ideally within defense litigation.
• Experience supporting personal injury and/or general litigation.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA‑approved program preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Supporting attorneys with cases from inception through trial and close.
• Reviewing, organizing and summarizing medical records, financial records and other case materials.
• Assisting with discovery and litigation preparation.
• Preparing trial binders, exhibits and witness files.
• Managing court calendars, deadlines and case schedules.
• Preparing status reports and keeping attorneys and relevant parties updated.
• Conducting legal research and assisting with case-related documentation.
• Obtaining and reviewing medical records.
• Handling daily time-entry and billing requirements.
• Coordinating with attorneys, clients, court personnel, experts and other legal professionals.
• Ensuring key deadlines and case milestones are met.

Salary: $70,000–$90,000, depending on experience

Experience: 5+ years

Schedule: Hybrid | 4 days per week in NYC

I’m working with a well-established litigation defense firm that is looking to add an experienced Paralegal to its New York City team. This is an opportunity for a paralegal who enjoys being closely involved in the full life cycle of a case, from initial intake and discovery through trial and final resolution, and who wants to work alongside experienced litigators on a varied caseload.

You’ll provide hands‑on support across personal injury and general litigation defense matters, including:
