Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of paralegal experience, or equivalent, including eDiscovery.
  • Experience with eDiscovery is preferred.
  • Advanced familiarity with conflicts, new business intake, record keeping, timekeeping and billing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Know legal terminology and formats; create Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities; bluebooking and cite-checking.
  • Draft, manage, and file pleadings with state and federal courts and agencies.
  • Create, edit, and review legal documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with exhibit prep for depositions and trials.
  • Coordinate with process servers, court reporters, and other third parties in litigation.
  • Manage and host electronically stored information using iPro or Relativity.
  • Support with closing checklists, due diligence, signatures, and closing binders in transactional work.
  • Maintain case management and essential records; calendar and docketing; meet billable hours target of 1600 per year.

Summary

The Litigation Paralegal s supports attorneys by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, and managing and organizing case documents in all stages of litigation.

Essential Functions
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and legal document formats; ability to create Table of Contents and Table of Authorities; demonstrated knowledge of Bluebooking and ability to cite-check
  • Drafting, managing, and filing pleadings and other filings with State and Federal courts and other applicable agencies
  • Creating, composing, and editing written material such as transaction documents, correspondence and/or legal documentation
  • Assisting with exhibit preparation and organization for depositions and trials
  • Working with process servers, court reporters, and other third parties necessary to litigation
  • Knowledge and experience with managing, processing, and hosting electronically stored information, must have experience in either iPro or Relativity
  • Working closely with attorneys on all transactions including preparing and maintaining closing checklists, ordering due diligence searches and good standing certificates, coordinating signatures, and assembling closing binders
  • Assisting with case management and retention of all essential case records
  • Maintaining and updating calendars, including all docketing, for all active cases
  • Maintains a billing rate and meets or exceeds the billable hours target of 1600 per year
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to effectively communicate and work cooperatively with attorneys, staff, clients, coworkers, and vendors
  • Ability to act as a peer mentor and assist with training as needed
  • Advanced proficiency with, or ability to learn, software programs used by the firm for conflicts and new business intake, record keeping, timekeeping and billing, document management and workflow and willingness to attend trainings and develop proficiency when new technologies are rolled out
  • Excellent understanding of legal, clerical, and court systems
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks including delegation of tasks when appropriate
  • Extensive knowledge of the roles and function of the assigned department, and any specifically applicable laws or guidelines
  • Ability to recreate content based on experience

This position requires the employee to work in a professional office environment with some ability to work from home. Because the employee will handl e sensitive firm and client information, the employee must work from a home office and not a public location during any remote periods. The employee will routinely use standard office equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility in start and end times. Occasional overtime is .

Required Education and Experience

High school degree or equivalent and a minimum of five years of paralegal experience or equivalent, including eDiscovery experience.

Bachelor’s Degree, Notary Public, Paralegal Certificate
