A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Chicago office. This hybrid opportunity offers a competitive salary of $85,000–$110,000 depending on experience and the chance to work alongside attorneys in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment. In this role, the Legal Assistant will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to 2 partners and 2 associates, helping manage complex casework and ensuring the attorneys have the support needed to operate efficiently. The ideal candidate will have at least 3–5 years of solid litigation experience, strong attention to detail, and has worked in a large or mid-sized law firm. Responsibilities of the Litigation Legal Assistant
- Provide high-level administrative and litigation support to 2 partners and 2 associates, including managing calendars, coordinating meetings, handling correspondence, and assisting with daily attorney needs.
- Prepare, edit, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents for Federal, State, and local courts, including appellate matters.
- Prepare and maintain Tables of Contents (TOCs) and Tables of Authorities (TOAs), ensuring legal documents are accurately formatted and ready for submission.
- Manage litigation case files and assist with discovery, including organizing discovery requests and responses, deposition materials, exhibits, trial binders, and other materials required for hearings and trials.
- Coordinate communication with courts, clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and other parties while assisting with court filings, case deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Manage attorney calendars, travel arrangements, expense reporting, billable time entry, client matters, engagement letters, conflict checks, and other administrative responsibilities while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Qualifications of the Litigation Legal Assistant
- 3–5 years of solid litigation legal assistant experience, with experience supporting attorneys in a fast-paced law firm environment; MDL or class action litigation experience is a plus.
- Well-versed in preparing and formatting Tables of Contents (TOCs) and Tables of Authorities (TOAs), with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Styles, and PDF software.
- Experience with iManage, Intapp, and Chrome River is strongly preferred; familiarity with additional legal and accounting systems is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, anticipate attorney needs, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Highly professional, proactive, detail-oriented, and discreet with excellent judgment and the ability to provide a high level of service to attorneys, clients, courts, and other external contacts.
