This practice-embedded attorney will capture, organize, develop, and scale FMG’s litigation knowledge to improve quality, consistency, efficiency, collaboration, and client service.

The role requires substantive litigation experience, strong legal judgment, and a service-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state or jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of three years of substantive litigation practice experience.
  • Strong understanding of litigation strategy, workflows, attorney work product, research, drafting, discovery, and matter management across the litigation lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated interest in knowledge management, legal innovation, process improvement, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled legal service delivery; direct KM or legal-technology experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to build credibility and productive relationships with partners, associates, practice leaders, and business professionals, and to influence adoption without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and training skills, including the ability to explain legal and technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of experience.
  • Sound judgment regarding the effective, ethical, secure, and validation-focused use of generative AI and other emerging technologies in legal practice.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to take ownership, work independently, manage multiple initiatives, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, service-oriented, curious, and proactive approach, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with litigation practice leaders, attorneys, and the Director of Knowledge Management to identify, prioritize, and execute knowledge management initiatives that support the Firm’s strategic objectives and the practical needs of litigation teams.
  • Develop, curate, and maintain high-quality litigation resources, including model pleadings, motions, discovery materials, checklists, playbooks, templates, practice guides, research tools, and other reusable work product.
  • Establish practical processes to capture valuable knowledge from active and completed matters, including matter debriefs, lessons learned, successful strategies, preferred work product, and insights from trials, appeals, and significant case developments.
  • Organize and enhance litigation precedent collections and other knowledge repositories so attorneys can efficiently locate, evaluate, and reuse relevant materials; promote consistent metadata, naming conventions, and content-governance practices.
  • Identify recurring litigation workflows and opportunities to improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and client service across the matter lifecycle, including early case assessment, pleadings and motions, discovery, expert practice, trial preparation, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
  • Monitor significant legal, regulatory, procedural, court-rule, industry, and market developments affecting the Firm’s litigation practices and translate them into timely, practical guidance, alerts, training, and knowledge resources.
  • Develop and deliver substantive training, onboarding resources, workshops, demonstrations, and just-in-time guidance for attorneys and other legal professionals on litigation know-how, KM resources, research tools, and related best practices.
  • Serve as an accessible, practice-embedded resource for attorneys seeking relevant precedent, internal experience, subject-matter expertise, research direction, or practical guidance on available KM tools and resources.
  • Evaluate legal technology, litigation analytics, generative AI, research, document automation, and other tools for appropriate litigation use cases; contribute substantive legal judgment to pilots, testing, validation, quality assurance, risk assessment, and implementation.
  • Develop and refine litigation-focused prompts, workflows, guidance, and validation protocols that help attorneys use approved AI and technology tools effectively, securely, ethically, and consistently with professional obligations and Firm policies.
  • Promote adoption of KM resources and technology through relationship building, attorney engagement, practical demonstrations, targeted communications, feedback collection, and responsive support.
  • Track usage, feedback, project progress, and other meaningful indicators to assess the effectiveness of KM initiatives, identify knowledge gaps, and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Support knowledge transfer associated with attorney onboarding, lateral integration, role transitions, and departures, helping preserve institutional knowledge and connect attorneys with relevant expertise and resources.
  • Contribute to client-service, thought-leadership, and business-development initiatives where litigation knowledge, data, process, or technology can strengthen the Firm’s value proposition.
  • Handle FMG, attorney, and client information with the highest degree of confidentiality, sound judgment, and professional discretion.
