A national law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Docketing Coordinator to support litigation teams with deadline calculation, docket management, and rules-based calendaring. This position requires substantial hands-on California and federal litigation experience and a strong understanding of court rules, procedures, and filing deadlines.
The role is hybrid and requires candidates to live within reasonable commuting distance of an office location in The Bay Area, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Diego.
Responsibilities
- Review court filings, orders, notices, correspondence, and other case-related materials to identify applicable docketing requirements and deadlines.
- Calculate and calendar deadlines for California state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Enter, update, and maintain deadlines using rules-based docketing and calendaring systems.
- Analyze court orders and case activity to determine their impact on existing and future deadlines.
- Prioritize incoming docketing requests based on urgency and applicable deadlines.
- Communicate with attorneys and legal teams to obtain information needed for accurate case setup and docket management.
- Research court rules and procedures as needed to verify deadline requirements.
- Respond to questions regarding docketed events, deadlines, and applicable rules.
- Maintain accurate docketing records and follow established docketing procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of current California litigation experience working with case teams.
- Minimum 7 years of current federal litigation experience.
- Substantial experience calculating deadlines for state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Strong knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and procedures.
- Experience with a rules-based docketing or calendaring system such as ProLaw, CompuLaw, eDockets, or comparable software required.
- Prior litigation paralegal or legal secretary experience preferred.
- Large law firm experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong research, critical-thinking, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to learn and responsibly use evolving technology and AI-enabled workplace tools.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
