• JD degree and thorough knowledge of litigation, insurance law, and policy terms.
• ~1–3 years trial or legal claims experience, plus 6–12 months on-the-job training for insurance contracts and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage claims litigation activities and case strategy across Shelter states.
• Supervise and evaluate performance of outside attorneys involved in claims.
• Direct and train claims-handling activities in line with state law.
• Establish and train overall claims-handling protocol.
• Conduct legal research to explain impact on claims procedures and policy changes.
• Counsel Shelter departments on various claims, coverage, and legal issues.
• Direct and prepare trainings for schools, eLearning, and branches.
