Job summary

Anthropic in San Francisco is seeking an experienced litigator to join our Litigation and Regulatory team. You will manage a broad docket, advise on litigation risk, and build scalable processes. The role covers IP, class actions, commercial disputes, and potentially securities matters in the U.S.

and abroad. You will partner with Legal and cross-functional teams, and support regulatory investigations as needed.

Qualifications

• Hold a JD and are an active member of at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).
• Have litigated a combination of copyright, class actions, securities, and regulatory matters.
• Have broad experience handling complex civil litigation with discovery, and federal and/or CA state court rules.
• Have managed litigation matters with significant independence, including setting case strategy and directing outside counsel.
• Write clearly and communicate litigation risk and strategy to non‑legal audiences.
• Balance legal risk with business priorities while maintaining poise under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of litigation matters including IP, class actions, regulatory and commercial disputes, and securities cases.
• Direct outside counsel across all stages of litigation with a focus on strategic decisions and high-quality briefs.
• Manage small disputes and escalations to limit business friction and minimize risk.
• Advise company leadership and cross-functional partners on litigation risk and develop strategic litigation plans.
• Design and implement processes for matter intake, outside counsel budgeting, contingency reporting, and escalation run books.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to gather information and evaluate risk.
• Support responses to regulatory investigations and inquiries as needed.
• Stay up to date on AI‑related case law and share developments with stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop team members through active matters.
