Role Description

The Litigation Counsel will handle a broad range of civil and commercial litigation matters from case intake through resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, managing discovery, and preparing witnesses and evidence for hearings and trial. The role also involves appearing in court, participating in settlement negotiations, advising clients on litigation strategy, and coordinating with colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality representation. This is a full-time role based in San Mateo. Regular in-court appearances and three days per week of in-person collaboration in the office are expected. We are committed to helping this candidate develop his or her practice and progress into a partner role.

Compensation and Expectations

The salary range for the role is $200,000 to $260,000 annually. In addition, the firm will pay an annual bonus for client-focused hours in excess of 1500 per year.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in legal analysis (i.e., analyze complex fact patterns and apply relevant statutes, regulations, and case law).
• Experience providing clear, practical advice to clients, including risk assessment and litigation strategy recommendations.
• Demonstrated familiarity with litigation in California courts.
• Effective negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• 5+ years of litigation experience.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with strong attention to detail and organization.
• Willingness to work collaboratively.
• Clerkships and prior government service is a plus.
