Job summary

Mulliken Weiner Berg & Jolivet P.C. in Colorado Springs seeks an attorney with a few years of litigation experience eager to learn, develop, and manage a caseload. You will draft pleadings, run discovery, take depositions, and appear in court from intake to resolution.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of civil litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Experience in construction, employment, or commercial litigation. Exposure to more than one is a plus.
• Proven ability to draft persuasive motions and briefs and manage discovery independently.
• Deposition and courtroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of construction, employment, real estate, and commercial litigation matters from intake through settlement, trial, and/or appeal.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and written discovery requests and responses.
• Conduct legal research and give partners clear, practical analysis on case strategy.
• Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and work with experts.
• Appear in state and federal court for hearings, conferences, arbitration and trial, first-chairing more matters as you gain experience.
• Represent clients in mediation and settlement negotiations.
• Advise clients on best practices and contract disputes before they turn into lawsuits.
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the court, and keep clients updated on their case.
• Keep accurate time records and meet billable hour expectations consistent with firm standards.
