The work is business and commercial disputes: contract disputes, breach of contract, and related commercial litigation. You take matters end to end — strategy, drafting, motion practice, negotiation, and court appearances — on an as-needed basis that flexes with the firm's docket. No billable-hour targets and no office overhead: the firm's platform handles operations, so your time is spent purely on the practice of law.## Responsibilities* Handle business and commercial disputes — contract disputes, breach of contract, and related commercial litigation — from evaluation through resolution* Develop case strategy and counsel clients on risk, exposure, and resolution paths* Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and settlement agreements* Conduct depositions, negotiate with opposing counsel, and appear in Central Virginia state and federal courts — Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg areas* Take overflow matters as needed, managing your own docket and deadlines independently in a fully distributed practice## Qualifications* Active admission to the Virginia State Bar and in good standing* Professional liability (malpractice) insurance in force, or ability to obtain coverage before engagement* Substantial litigation experience with a focus on business, commercial, or contract disputes* Demonstrated first-chair or lead-attorney experience handling matters end to end* Able to appear in person in Central Virginia courts (Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg region) as matters require* Strong drafting, negotiation, and courtroom skills* Proficiency with legal research platforms, including AI-powered tools (Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, Anthropic Claude, or similar), with the judgment to verify every output* Self-directed in a virtual-office environment; able to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently## CompensationApproximately $200 per hour, commensurate with experience.
