Job summary

Confidential Employer in Newport Beach, CA is seeking an experienced civil litigator to manage cases from opening through resolution. You will counsel clients on strategy, take depositions, draft motions, and represent clients in hearings and trials.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of civil litigation experience, a JD, and an active CA Bar license. This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration with remote flexibility and a strong emphasis on ownership of complex matters.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Active California Bar license required.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Significant experience taking and defending depositions.
• Strong experience with discovery, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Construction defect, general liability, personal injury, or business litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters and competing deadlines.
• Excellent client communication and relationship-management skills.
• Strong organization, judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Administrative or managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters from case opening through resolution.

• Draft motions, oppositions, briefs, memoranda, contracts, and other legal documents.

• Review discovery materials and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Research statutes, case law, and court rulings and identify potential legal risks.
• Prepare comprehensive trial briefs and other trial materials.
• Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
• Maintain organized case files, deadlines, and matter status from opening through close.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and strategy.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and legal support professionals.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of approximately 1,900 hours.

Note:

Candidates must have 4+ years of directly relevant civil litigation experience, a Juris Doctor degree, and an active California Bar license.
