Job summary

Orion Placement in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced attorney to join a respected boutique litigation and trial team focused on professional liability and sophisticated business litigation. The role offers hybrid work with Downtown LA or Brentwood office access.

You will manage a complex caseload from inception through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motions, client communication, and trial preparation, with opportunities to participate in trials as second chair.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and admission to practice in California.
• 4+ years of California litigation experience, including business litigation.
• Professional liability, legal malpractice, or related defense experience preferred.
• Strong writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Location

This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work from either our Downtown Los Angeles or Brentwood office. We prefer candidates who are able to work in office regularly, while still offering flexibility for the right fit.

Candidates must be admitted to practice in California and should have 4+ years of California litigation experience, ideally including business litigation, professional liability, legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, or other sophisticated civil litigation matters.

Job Description

• Manage a sophisticated litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Handle professional liability, malpractice, business litigation, and related civil defense matters
• Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and prepare status reports
• Draft pleadings, motions, dispositive motions, discovery responses, and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
• Propound and respond to written discovery
• Take and defend depositions
• Make court appearances in California state and federal courts
• Prepare matters for trial, arbitration, mediation, and resolution
• Participate in trials as second chair when appropriate
• Work closely with partners and team members on complex, high-value litigation matters

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• 4+ years of California litigation experience
• Business litigation experience required
• Professional liability, legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, or similar defense experience preferred
• Strong experience with discovery, depositions, law and motion, and independent case handling
• Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions preferred
• State and federal court experience preferred
• Trial preparation or trial experience preferred
• Excellent writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Westlaw, and related legal technology
