Job summary

Uvalle Law Firm in Dallas is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join our fast-paced, high-volume personal injury practice. You will oversee all litigation decisions, develop cases, and work with clients, insurers, and medical providers to secure favorable resolutions.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of Texas personal injury litigation experience, a TX license, and strong written/verbal communication skills. 1st Chair experience is preferred. Travel within Texas may be required.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• 3–5 years of litigation and trial experience in Texas personal injury cases.
• 1st Chair experience preferred; 2nd Chair experience required.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Direct legal decisions throughout all phases of litigation.
• Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and medical providers to resolve cases efficiently and maximize settlements.
• Negotiate personal injury settlements and make court appearances.
• Depose parties and experts; prepare for and attend mediation and trial.
• Draft and argue motions; ensure compliance with State Bar requirements.

Main Objectives

The Litigation Attorney main objectives are to oversee and direct all legal decisions for client cases which reach litigation status.

1. Client contact. Ensure Litigation Team timely answers and returns all client calls.
2. Case Development. Timely actions regarding litigation cases.
3. File Documentation: Immediately document all available data in the case file. If it is not in the file, it did not happen.

Main Tasks

• Direct legal decisions throughout all phases of litigation process
• Understand applicability of laws and statutes to the potential recovery of each case
• Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and medical providers in order to resolve a case efficiently and for the highest possible settlement
• Negotiate personal injury settlements
• Make court appearances on behalf of the firm
• Follow up legal and ethical requirements as per the State Bar of Texas

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Direct legal decisions throughout all phases of litigation process
• Understand the applicability of laws and statutes to the potential recovery of each case
• Communicate with clients and medical providers to ensure the highest quality medical care for clients
• Negotiate personal injury settlements
• Depose parties and fact and expert witnesses
• Aggressively pursue advantageous litigation tactics for the advancement of settlement position or trial
• Draft and argue motions
• Attend mediation
• Make court appearances on behalf of the firm
• Prepare for and attend trial as 1st or 2nd chair as appropriate

Qualifications & Skills:

• Licensed to practice law in State of Texas
• 3 to 5 years of litigation and trial experience in Texas personal injury cases
• 1st Chair Experience (preferred), 2nd Chair Experience (required)
• Experience handling contested motions
• Experience taking and defending depositions of parties and experts
• Experience at mediation in personal injury cases
• Willing to work a pre -litigation caseload while building up a full litigation docket
• Computer literate and familiar with document drafting and e-filing
• Light travel throughout Texas
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Efficient and effective with overall time management
• Determined to learn and adapt in a high-paced atmosphere
• Able to multi-task and handle a high-volume litigation docket
• Detail oriented, strategic thinker, and aggressive advocate
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, but not required
