Job summary

gpac is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney for a client firm in California. This role offers meaningful litigation exposure, direct client interaction, and a mentorship-driven path for professional growth across complex civil matters.

You will handle discovery, depositions, pleadings, and court appearances, while collaborating with partners and staff in a hybrid work setting. A California Bar license and strong writing/research skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience handling discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Ability to manage cases independently while collaborating effectively with partners and staff.
• Construction defect, real estate, and/or business litigation experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex civil litigation matters, including construction defect litigation, real estate and business disputes.
• Manage cases and assist with matters through various stages of litigation.
• Handle written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Take and defend depositions of parties and witnesses.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related filings.
• Conduct legal research and develop persuasive legal arguments.
• Appear in court for hearings and other litigation proceedings.
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Work closely with partners and support staff while developing independent case-management skills.
• Maintain accurate and timely billing records.
