Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking an Associate Attorney for its San Francisco Bay Area office to work on sophisticated whistleblower and consumer protection class actions. The role offers meaningful courtroom experience early on and opportunities to handle complex matters for individuals and consumers against strong defendants.

The candidate will manage portions of complex litigation, draft pleadings, conduct discovery, take depositions, work with experts, and participate in trial preparation.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of post-bar litigation experience preferred.
• Strong writing, analytical and legal research skills.
• Experience with depositions, court appearances, complex discovery and ESI.
• Demonstrated desire to build a career as a litigator.
• Collaborative, intellectually curious and comfortable working in a demanding litigation environment.
• Plaintiff- or defense-side litigation backgrounds may be considered.
• Prosecutor or public defender experience may be transferable.
• Big Law litigators seeking substantially more hands-on courtroom and trial experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage substantive portions of complex litigation from early case development through resolution.
• Draft complaints, motions and other significant pleadings.
• Handle written discovery and complex document/ESI matters.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Work with experts and participate in trial preparation.
• Appear in court and develop meaningful first- and second-chair litigation experience.
• Collaborate closely with senior trial attorneys and a strong professional support team.
