Job summary

A San Francisco Bay Area litigation firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its office. This role offers the chance to work on sophisticated whistleblower and consumer protection class actions and gain meaningful courtroom experience early in the career.

The associate will manage substantive portions of complex litigation, draft pleadings, handle discovery and ESI, take depositions, and collaborate with senior trial attorneys to prepare for trial.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3-7 years of post-bar litigation experience preferred.
• Strong writing, analytical and legal research skills.
• Experience with depositions, court appearances, complex discovery and ESI.
• Demonstrated desire to build a career as a litigator.
• Strong academic credentials and a stable employment history.
• Collaborative, intellectually curious and comfortable working in a demanding litigation environment.
• Plaintiff- or defense-side litigation backgrounds may be considered.
• Prosecutor or public defender experience may be transferable.
• Big Law litigators seeking substantially more hands-on courtroom and trial experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage substantive portions of complex litigation from early case development through resolution.
• Draft complaints, motions and other significant pleadings.
• Handle written discovery and complex document/ESI matters.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Work with experts and participate in trial preparation.
• Appear in court and develop meaningful first- and second-chair litigation experience.
• Collaborate closely with senior trial attorneys and a strong professional support team.
