Job description

Litigation Associate Attorney (3-7 Years' Experience)

We are a close-knit law firm with deep roots in southern New Jersey. We are seeking an attorney with 3-7 years of practice experience to join our construction law, commercial litigation, and transactional practice.

This role is available for immediate start (subject to standard notice to a current employer) and is intended for admitted attorneys who have already completed law school. We are not considering law students, 3Ls, upcoming graduates, or candidates awaiting bar results at this time.

Our firm represents clients throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. Our clients include public works contractors operating nationwide, developers managing projects in markets such as Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and Pompano Beach, and local specialty trade subcontractors.

Responsibilities

The attorney will have early opportunities for client interaction and meaningful responsibility across all aspects of assigned matters, including appearances before courts and government agencies.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing bid protest letters related to government projects
  • Reviewing and drafting construction contracts and subcontracts
  • Preparing appellate briefs involving public contracting disputes with state agencies
  • Conducting legal research and drafting motions and other litigation documents
  • Participating in civil litigation matters
  • Assisting with stock and asset purchase agreements
  • Communicating directly with clients, courts, and government bodies
  • Working collaboratively with attorneys and other members of the firm
Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

  • May 2023 JD graduate or earlier
  • 3-7 years of attorney practice experience
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar; or
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania or New York Bar with the ability to waive into New Jersey
  • No prior construction law experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications

The following are valued but are not required:

  • Ties to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or New York (e.g., current or prior residence, or education in the region)
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Interest in construction law, commercial litigation, public contracting, or transactional work
  • Strong academic background
  • Ability to manage substantive responsibilities and communicate effectively with clients
  • Prior exposure to litigation or contract drafting
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is competitive with similarly sized firms in the region and will be based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The firm offers health insurance and, after one year of employment, eligibility for 401(k) and profit-sharing plans.

The position is primarily in person in our Atlantic City, NJ office, but attorneys have a regular, weekly remote day.

Interview Process

Selected candidates can expect an initial one-on-one remote interview with a partner. Finalists may then meet with a group of partners either remotely or in person, depending on circumstances.
