Job summary

Auto Club Enterprises is seeking a Litigation Assistant to support a high-volume in-house civil defense practice. You will assist multiple Trial Attorneys with preparation and filing of legal documents, calendar management, trial prep, and deadline monitoring.

The role requires 4–6 years of secretarial/legal experience, strong typing, and proficiency in Word/Outlook. Benefits include health coverage, 401(k) with match, tuition assistance, and generous PTO.

Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma required.
  • 4–6 years of legal secretarial experience.
  • Typing speed 55–60 WPM preferred.
  • Clear written and spoken communication required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology helpful.
  • Teamwork, customer service, and diversity valued.

  • Process all mail in compliance with law firm standards.
  • Maintain technical files and records including reports and payment drafts.

Job description

Litigation Assistant

Experienced Litigation Assistant supporting a high-volume in-house civil litigation defense practice with responsibility for assisting multiple Trial Attorneys. Provides comprehensive litigation support, including preparation and filing of legal documents, management of complex attorney calendars, trial preparation, and maintenance of litigation deadlines. Handles subpoena requests, records procurement, discovery support, and case file management while ensuring compliance with court rules and procedural requirements. Thrives in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing competing priorities and supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, in compliance with court rules, legal documents relating to legal matters. Documents may include but are not limited to: summons, complaints, motions, notices, court forms, pleadings, and legal opinions. Create and proofread legal documents, reports, and letters utilizing legal software applications and by following marginal notes and attorney instructions.
  • Input into case management system all data contained in the legal file such as correspondence, notices, legal documents, billing, and expenditures. Make necessary corrections, update information, and respond to inquiries.
  • Manage attorney calendar(s) by scheduling and confirming appointments and court appearances. Resolve calendar conflicts when necessary.
  • File correspondence and legal documents in compliance with law office standards.
  • Maintain and monitor a comprehensive diary system for litigated files to insure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Process all mail in compliance with law firm standards.
  • Maintain technical files and records including comprehensive and detailed documentation. Prepare reports and payment drafts.
Qualifications
  • High School GED Required
  • 4-6 years Secretarial and/or legal experience required using accepted legal support and office organization practices. Required
  • Minimum typing speed of 55 - 60 corrected words per minute preferred.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively required - both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and ability to use provided computer technology to enhance the quality of work and programs highly desired.
  • Ability to compose, prepare, proofread, and type correspondence required.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures helpful.
  • Behavior competencies related to results orientation, customer service, continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration, and value of diversity highly desirable.

The starting pay range for this position is: $28.93 - $38.53 Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
