Winston Preparatory School in Whippany, NJ is seeking a passionate educator to join our campus as both a Language Arts & Literature Classroom Teacher and a 1:1 Focus Instructor. This full-time role emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and design of responsive instruction.

You will work with students in small groups and one-to-one settings, support reading and writing growth, and participate in professional development within a mission-driven, supportive community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Literacy, English, Special Education, or related field.
• Master’s degree in related field is highly desirable.
• Two years of language arts or literacy teaching experience preferred.

Literature/Language Arts Classroom Teacher and 1:1 Focus Instructor (NJ Campus)

Winston Preparatory School is seeking a passionate educator to join our Whippany, NJ campus as both a Language Arts & Literature Classroom Teacher and a 1:1 Focus Instructor. This is a full-time position for immediate hire. • Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment
• Teach students in a 1:1 setting and/or small class setting
• Instruct students in their greatest areas of need using a variety of techniques, such as multi-sensory learning and repetition, to reinforce learning and to meet students’ varying needs and interests
• Provide decoding, encoding, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing remediation in one-to-one and classroom settings
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students
• Meet with parents to discuss their children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs
• Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
• Communicate with parents to discuss their children’s progress weekly and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs
• Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other outside professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social/emotional development
• Collaborate with students’ teams and document weekly updates to families and the teaching team, including observations in both academic and social-emotional realms
• Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
• Perform related work as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Literacy, English, Special Education, or a related field
• Master’s degree (MA or MS) in Speech-Language Pathology, Reading Specialist, Special Education, or Learning Specialist is highly desirable
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching language arts or specialized literacy to students in grades 3-12; experience working with students with learning differences is preferred
• Training in multisensory and evidence-based reading and writing programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood-Bell, PAF, SRSD) is a strong plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective classroom management, excellent organization, and a collaborative, flexible mindset
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Meet, and Classroom
