Job description

Winston Preparatory School is seeking a passionate educator to join our Whippany, NJ campus as a Speech-Language Pathologist. This is a full-time position for immediate hire. This role begins as a full-time (FT) substitute teacher, and over the course of the school year, will transition into a permanent position as a Specialist in our 1:1 Focus Program. Because of our growing student population, rolling admissions, and maternity leave, we will need 1-2 additional teachers as the year progresses. This position begins with providing coverage or assistance in content classes and 1:1 Focus sessions, while also participating in all faculty meetings and professional development. This allows the person hired for this position to become fully immersed in Winston Prep NJ’s community, unique philosophies and best practices. As the year progresses and needs arise, the role will steadily transition into their own caseload.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide coverage and/or assistance in content classes and 1:1 Focus sessions
• Instruct students in their greatest areas of need using a variety of techniques, such as multi-sensory learning and repetition, to reinforce learning and to meet students’ varying needs and interests
• Provide decoding, encoding, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing remediation in one-to-one and classroom settings
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students
• Meet with parents to discuss their children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs
• Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
• Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
• Perform related work as required

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Strong CFY candidates will be considered
• At least 2 years of school experience is strongly preferred
