Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling, or related field.

• Ability to pass Illinois Department of Corrections background check.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to give presentations, recruit volunteers, and maintain schedules.
• Accountable to supervise and evaluate volunteers fairly and independently.
• Ability to apply Board policies and procedures.
• Budgeting, personal costs, overtime expenses, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead Literacy program within the Adult Education division and align with AEFLA objectives.
• Develop and supervise literacy projects and write compelling grant proposals.
• Prepare budgets, financial narratives, and AVL grant reporting to state agencies.
• Data collection, reporting, and monitoring for AVL and other funders.
• Evaluate learners and tutors to support their goals and learning outcomes.
• Provide tech support to ensure smooth class transitions and tutoring.
• Foster partnerships with local organizations to boost literacy participation.
• Oversee CASAS testing and tutor/staff professional development.
• Recruit and train volunteers; manage recognition activities and events.
