Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Coach at Nathan Hale Middle School to advance reading and writing instruction for diverse learners. The role supports school leaders, teachers, and teams through coaching, job-embedded PD, and targeted progress monitoring.

The position emphasizes collaboration with the Instructional Leadership Team, alignment of Tier I–III interventions, and continuous professional learning to improve literacy outcomes for all students.

Qualifications

• Connecticut professional educator license with required endorsements.
• Master's Degree required.
• Minimum of five years of exemplary teaching at a minimum of two grade levels.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, organization, and learning skills.
• Previous experience as a Literacy Coach or Teacher Leader preferred.
• Previous participation in district learning opportunities and/or June curriculum work preferred.
• Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide job-embedded professional development and coaching to support the literacy curriculum.
• Play an active role on the school's Instructional Leadership Team to support SIP goals.
• Support teachers to provide access to the core curriculum for diverse learners.
• Review student data to identify needs and develop targeted supports.
• Apply adult learning principles to inform coaching and facilitate inter-visitations.
• Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals to build strong relationships.
• Attend professional learning workshops with the district team.
• Collaborate with Reading/Writing Improvement Teacher to align interventions and schedule.
