Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Loss Mitigation Supervisor to oversee staff handling mortgage negotiations, short sales, and deeds in lieu for investors. You will analyze submissions, present counteroffers, and ensure compliance with valuation targets.

You will lead reporting, handle mediation hearings with travel up to 10%, and coordinate with senior management and HUD. Strong negotiation and real estate terminology knowledge are required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; some college courses in business or finance preferred
Three (3) or more years’ mortgage industry experience
One (1) or more years of related experience in loss mitigation/negotiation required
Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Suite preferred
Knowledge of mortgage/real estate terminology required
Knowledge of industry and/or company-specific software in sales/collections required
Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints
Ability to make decisions with significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside it
Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on a short-term basis longer than one month and within allotted work schedules
Ability to travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

Supervise staff handling inbound and outbound calls from borrowers, real estate agents, attorneys, and authorized third parties regarding short sale and deed in lieu requests
Analyze submitted Short Sale and REO transactions for investor approval and compliance
Support timely negotiations and counteroffers to reduce loss severity and meet or exceed company-determined property valuation
Present counteroffers to real estate agents, attorneys, and authorized third parties
Submit negotiated files to senior management and investors for approval
Decline purchase offers with excessive variance from company-determined property valuation
Prepare monthly department metrics reporting and tracking for Senior Management
Manage foreclosure-sale postponements when additional review time is needed
Attend mediation/settlement hearings, with some travel required
Request variance exceptions with HUD as needed
Initiate call campaigns for negotiators to contact customers directly
Complete tasks processors and negotiators cannot complete
Handle escalated calls professionally
Prepare responses for Advocates, HUD, and CMS management
Participate in internal and external audit responses and create remediation action plans
Perform other duties as assigned
